It’s impossible not to fall for the city that Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé sing for :
‘ I had this perfect dream
Un sueño me envolvió …‘
And who possibly hasn’t heard of Gaudí? Oh, you haven’t? I will gladly tell you then.
If you have ever been one of the luckiest tourists on Earth, you must have seen Barcelona. It’s emblematic of the style Art Nouveau with the famous architect works. Park Güell, Sagrada Familia, the houses Casa Batlló, La Pedrera (Casa Milà) and the rest, are just a part of the sights no visitor should miss.
The lovely Spanish city offers eye candy and soul food not only for all the architecture lovers, interior designers, landscape planners, but also for all those aesthetes and hopeless romantics that spend their fortune on plane tickets in order to experience the beauty of the world in person.
Nature has it all. Nature is the ultimate inspiration that brought Modernismo Catalán to life. Studies in Biology and Physics are combined with Art. The forms of the seashells, the structure of the plants, the movement of the water, defying gravity are all part of the artistic contemplation and re-creation. It’s mesmerizing to walk around Casa Batlló and touch the surfaces especially designed to play with human perception of smoothness and bumps, stillness and dynamics. Not to forget about sound. The acoustics of the space turn the house in a music experience. Same applies for Park Güell archways which host many musical performances. Gaudí has designed a multi-sensual experience for us.I could go on and on, however Barcelona is also Your Story and you will have to take it from here on.
I dream of you, Barcelona! No wonder Spain has been a weak spot of mine. I wish to you, fellow travellers, that you have the chance to visit Barcelona at least once. I bet your heart will ache to go back. 😉
